Developing Independent Learners
Embed self-regulated learning into real subject teaching, not a generic study-skills add-on, with a reusable toolkit and a 30-day school-led plan.

The problem this addresses
Most "study skills" programmes teach generic strategies divorced from the subject content students actually need to apply them to, so the skills don't transfer. SRL strategies are more likely to transfer when they are explicitly modelled, practised and gradually applied within authentic subject tasks, not delivered as a one-off assembly or a laminated poster of tips. This service designs that embedding for one team, for real, inside their actual curriculum, at a scope that fits a defined, tightly bounded engagement.
Who it's for
Heads of Teaching and Learning, Curriculum Coordinators, and secondary leadership who want students to plan, monitor, and evaluate their own learning rather than relying entirely on teacher direction, and who want that built into normal subject teaching rather than bolted on as a separate study-skills course.
Expected outcome
A self-regulated learning approach embedded in real subject teaching, with a school-led 30-day roadmap your team can run.
What's included
- An SRL Review of four selected teaching/assessment artifacts, identifying where the team already scaffolds self-regulation and where the gaps are.
- A reusable teacher strategy toolkit, modelling routines, scaffolding examples, and a fading sequence, adapted to the team's subject.
- Three 45-minute synchronous sessions via Zoom: Session 1 immediately after the first asynchronous learning week, Session 2 approximately 7 to 14 days later (implementation planning), and Session 3 at approximately 180 days (feedback and long-term reflection, not a second diagnostic). Asynchronous work (reading, adaptation) happens between sessions.
- A school-led, SMART-goal 30-day implementation roadmap.
- One round of follow-up clarification.
- Six named participant places are included. The purchasing school may add any number of its own staff before commencement at CHF 75 each. Your school also receives complimentary access to TeachingTide.com, a Swiss-designed partner CPD-management platform that can be used by all staff across your school, for one year.
- A Certificate of Completion ("SRL Champion") for session attendees, recording CPD hours.
- Full scope, revision terms, and support limits are confirmed in the proposal.
The learning journey
Three 45-minute synchronous sessions via Zoom: Session 1 immediately after the first asynchronous learning week, Session 2 approximately 7 to 14 days later for implementation planning, and Session 3 at approximately 180 days for feedback and long-term reflection. Asynchronous work happens between sessions.
What each participant creates
One bounded artifact review per participant: one submission, one consolidated feedback response, and one resubmission opportunity.
Evidence and framework behind it
Applies established self-regulated learning and metacognitive principles (planning, monitoring, evaluating) through an SRL Review rubric and a reusable strategy toolkit, embedded in the team's real subject curriculum.
Exclusions
- A generic study-skills course disconnected from subject content.
- Ongoing coaching beyond the defined follow-up points; the roadmap is school-led and self-implemented.
- Scope details beyond this are confirmed in the proposal.
What the school must provide
One nominated coordinator, four teaching/assessment artifacts, completion of the intake questionnaire, appropriate anonymization of any student-identifiable material, and a department willing to pilot on one real task during the 30-day window.
Price and what it includes

Estimated timeline: Approximately 3 weeks, beginning once the complete document set is accepted.
Delivery: Remote
Six named participant places are included. The purchasing school may add any number of its own staff before commencement at CHF 75 each.
